Air Quality

Get Involved!

Community residents are invited to participate in team building, workshops, networking, and neighborhood projects to make Fairview a safer, more connected, and vibrant neighborhood.

Fairview Air Monitoring Project

We have distributed 20 PurpleAir sensors in Fairview. These sensors empower our community of citizen scientists to collect hyper-local air quality data to share it in real time with the public.

These air sensors track fine particulate matter (PM2.5), such as dust dirt, soot, or smoke. These fine particles are so small they can be inhaled and can cause serious health problems. This project explored what the air quality is like in Fairview and will share information with the public.

Review our “Fairview Air Quality Report” here (released in September 2023).

Our project’s “Quality Assurance Project Plan” is available here.

Current Air Quality: Map Key

Green: 0-50

Air quality is satisfactory, and air pollution poses little or no risk with 24 hours of exposure

Yellow: 51-100

Air quality is acceptable. However, there may be a risk for some people with 24 hours of exposure, particularly those who are unusually sensitive to air pollution.

Orange: 101-150

Members of sensitive groups may experience health effects with 24 hours of exposure. The general public is less likely to be affected.

Red: 151-200

Some members of the general public may experience health effects with 24 hours of exposure; members of sensitive groups may experience more serious health effects.

Purple: 201-300

Health alert: The risk of health effects is increased for everyone with 24 hours of exposure.

Dark Purple: Over 301

Health warning of emergency conditions: everyone is more likely to be affected with 24 hours of exposure.
