Ingra Street
Future vision for Ingra Street, located in the Fairview neighborhood of Anchorage, AK
The Fairview community is working to transform the Ingra & Gambell Street couplet, restoring Ingra to a local, neighborhood street. With Gambell becoming a Main Street, Ingra will serve as a higher-capacity alternative to Gambell, with dedicated space for pedestrians and improved sidewalks. For more information, visit the Reconnecting Fairview Project Library. Our long-term vision for Ingra Street includes:
Ingra Street: Safe Neighborhood Corridor
- A safer, calmer street that balances local access, connectivity, and mobility while prioritizing people traveling safely along the corridor.

2026 Fairview Block Party outreach posters
These posters are designed for public input during Summer 2026 public outreach events. The images show a phased approach for road design with a near-term (within 5 years), mid-term (by 2040), and long-term (beyond 2040) scenario approach to each street cross-section. The designs build on each step toward a long-term vision for each roadway.
For the long-term, the approaches focus on these areas after a Fairview Bypass is constructed:
- Gambell: Offer 2-way traffic to build a “Main Street” with flexible space for businesses, on-street parking, and/or transit facilities.
- Hyder: Emphasize safety, community art and storytelling, and catalyze investment by balancing connectivity and subarctic design.
- Ingra: Reduced traffic allows for 2-way traffic and reallocating space for pedestrians.
